By projecting the light of higher perception, knowledge of the subtle, the hidden, and the distant arises.

Pravṛtti is activity, function. Āloka is light, illumination. Nyāsa is projection, placement. Sūkṣma is subtle. Vyavahita is hidden, obstructed. Viprakṛṣṭa is distant, remote.

There is an inner light (jyotiṣmatī from sutra 1.36) that, when projected, reveals what lies beyond ordinary perception.

Sūkṣma: atomic particles, subtle energies, non-physical planes.

Vyavahita: what is hidden behind barriers, inside closed objects, underground.

Viprakṛṣṭa: what is far away in space, on other continents, on other planets.

It is a form of remote viewing or clairvoyance. The light of consciousness, normally limited to the range of the senses, expands.

The senses have limited reach. Consciousness, in its pure nature, has no limits. Saṃyama reveals this latent capacity.

This siddhi has been reported by contemplatives of all traditions.
