From that arise intuition and the higher powers of hearing, touch, sight, taste, and smell.

Prātibha is intuition. Śrāvaṇa is hearing. Vedana is touch. Ādarśa is vision. Āsvāda is taste. Vārtā is smell (or news).

From the knowledge of puruṣa (previous sutra) arise elevated sensory powers.

These are not the ordinary senses but their higher versions: clairaudience, clairvoyance, etc.

Prātibha was already mentioned: spontaneous intuition. The others are subtle perceptions that transcend the limitations of physical organs.

Śrāvaṇa: hearing what is distant, subtle sounds, the inner voice. Vedana: perceiving by touch what normally escapes. Ādarśa: seeing the invisible, the distant, the future. Āsvāda: discerning subtle qualities through taste. Vārtā: perceiving information through smell or subtle channels.

These powers are byproducts of knowledge of the puruṣa. They are not the goal but secondary effects of purification.
