That vibration of the Pāṇḍavas shattered the hearts of the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, and the earth and sky resounded with tumult

Sound has effective power: vyadārayat (tore apart, made into pieces) describes a violent action upon the hṛdayāni (hearts, minds, emotional centers). Before an arrow flies, the Kauravas have already been psychically wounded.

The Pāṇḍava ghoṣa (vibration, sound) is different from the Kaurava noise. While the enemy sound was tumulaḥ (chaotic), the Pāṇḍava is tumulo ‘bhyanunādayan — a tumult that resounds (anunādayan) but with direction, making sky (nabhas) and earth (pṛthivī) vibrate in cosmic unity.

The sky-earth connection anticipates the cosmism of the teaching that Kṛṣṇa will impart to Arjuna.
