Arjuna Viṣāda Yoga · Verse 43
"दोषैरेतैः कुलघ्नानां वर्णसङ्करकारकैः | उत्साद्यन्ते जातिधर्माः कुलधर्माश्च शाश्वताः"
"doṣair etaiḥ kula-ghnānāṃ varṇa-saṅkara-kārakaiḥ | utsādyante jāti-dharmāḥ kula-dharmāś ca śāśvatāḥ"
By these faults of the destroyers of the family, causes of confusion of castes, are destroyed the duties of caste and the eternal duties of the family
Arjuna summarizes the causal argument. The doṣāḥ (faults, defects) are not accidental but kārakāḥ (causing, active agents) of varṇa-saṅkara. The verb utsādyante (are destroyed, are made to fall, are eliminated) is violently active.
The distinction between jāti-dharmāḥ (duties of caste by birth) and kula-dharmāḥ (duties of family/clan) is crucial. Jāti is determined by birth; kula by specific lineage. Both are śāśvatāḥ (eternal, perpetual) in the traditional sense of “always existing in tradition,” though the text will question this eternality.
The participle kula-ghnānām (of the family-slayers) repeats, accumulating guilt before blood is shed.
