For of the wandering senses, that toward which the mind follows, that steals away his wisdom, as the wind a boat on the water

The mind is anuvidhīyate (made to follow, is attracted) by indriyāṇi (senses) caratām (wandering). The senses seek objects; the mind follows them.

Consequence: harati prajñām (robs/drags away wisdom). The analogy is vivid: vāyuḥ (wind) carries away nāvam (boat) ambhasi (on water). The yogin without anchor is carried by any impulse.

The solution: saṃyama (control) of senses, not of mind alone.
