The external mental state that is not imagined is the great bodiless one. From that arises the destruction of the veil over the light.

Bahir is external. Akalpita is not imagined, real. Vṛtti is mental modification. Mahāvidehā is the great bodiless one. Prakāśa is light. Āvaraṇa is veil. Kṣaya is destruction.

Mahāvidehā is an advanced state where consciousness operates outside the body, not as imagination but as reality.

In ordinary practice, when we imagine being outside the body, it is just a mental exercise. In mahāvidehā, consciousness truly extends beyond bodily limits.

From this state arises the destruction of the veil that hides the light of puruṣa. The veil is tamas, ignorance, what obscures the true nature.

It is a state of radical expansion of identity. The yogī ceases to be confined in the small space of the physical body.

This siddhi prepares for kaivalya. When identification with the body ceases, the light of the Self shines without obstruction.

It is freedom within experience, not just as a future goal.
