जनार्दन
Janardana
devaAgitator of men, mover of the people, one who incites or inspires. An epithet of Kṛṣṇa (Viṣṇu), combining jana (people, creatures) + ardana (agitating, moving, exciting).
In the Bhagavad-gītā, Arjuna addresses Kṛṣṇa as Janārdana — acknowledging his role as the divine agent who stirs the hearts of beings toward action, righteousness, and ultimately liberation.
The name carries dual resonance: Kṛṣṇa agitates men from complacency and torpor, while also being the object of their deepest longing (ardana also carries the sense of worship and supplication).
