सत्त्व
Sattva
Quality of luminosity, purity, balance. One of the three gunas composing prakriti, associated with mental clarity, peace, and true knowledge.
When sattva predominates, the mind becomes transparent and can reflect purusha’s light without distortion. Yogic work primarily consists of cultivating sattva, reducing rajas (agitation) and tamas (inertia).
However, even sattva is a quality of prakriti — it is not purusha. The advanced practitioner eventually transcends attachment to purity and clarity as well, recognizing that all qualities belong to the observed field, not the observer.
