Vijñāna Bhairava

“Direct knowledge of Bhairava.” Tantric text of Kashmir Śaivism (8th–9th centuries), attributed to the Trika tradition. Contains 112 dharana — concentration methods leading to realization of the Self.

Each dharana starts from an everyday experience (the space between two thoughts, surprise, darkness, desire) and transforms it into a gateway to the absolute. It does not ask to renounce the world but to recognize the consciousness pervading it. It is tantra’s most direct text on the path of immediate experience.
