Arjuna

deva

The great warrior and friend of [[Krishna]], the central figure of the [[Bhagavad Gītā]]. His name means “bright,” “white,” or “silver” — the shine of clarity. In the epic, he represents the ideal student: intelligent, devoted, and utterly sincere in his confusion.

At the threshold of battle, Arjuna collapses in despair — unwilling to fight his own kin. His crisis is the human condition itself: caught between duty and desire, love and justice, action and consequence.

Krishna’s teaching unfolds in response to Arjuna’s questions. He is not a passive recipient but an active interlocutor whose doubts clarify the teaching for all who follow. His final word in the Gītā: “I will do your will.”
