नेति
Neti
shatkarmaNeti (नेति) designates the nasal purification technique using a sutra (thread) or catheter inserted through one nostril and drawn out through the mouth. The Haṭha-pradīpikā (2.38-40) includes it among the six ṣaṭkarma and prescribes its practice for clearing the nāḍīs and clarifying vision. The Gheraṇḍa-saṃhitā distinguishes between sūtra-neti and jala-neti (with water). On the philosophical plane, neti recalls the upaniṣadic method neti-neti (“not this, not this”) of progressive negation of the phenomenal. See shatkarma, nadi-shodhana.
