Svastika

“Auspicious,” “leading to well-being.” Ancient solar symbol representing cosmic rotation and good fortune. In yoga, svastikāsana is the auspicious posture — sitting with legs crossed and feet under the knees, stable and comfortable.

The Gheranda Saṃhitā counts it among the 32 essential asanas. Its name indicates it is a posture propitious for meditation: the body in equilibrium reflects inner harmony. The symbol is far older than its modern appropriation.
