Chapter 11 opens with Aṣṭāvakra’s direct pointer to the nature of reality: all that can be abandoned is not who you are. The universe itself is of the nature of the abandonable — transient, appearance, vivarta. What cannot be abandoned is the witness of it all: pure Consciousness (caitanya), the Ātman. The practice of non-attachment (vairāgya) here is not a technique but the natural consequence of recognizing that you are not anything that could be lost.
