Chapter 18 · Verse 34
अप्रयत्नात् प्रयत्नाद् वा मूढो नाप्नोति निर्वृतिम्
aprayatnāt prayatnād vā mūḍho nāpnoti nirvṛtim | tattvaniścayamātreṇa prājño bha
In chapter 18 (Janaka’s liberation), verse 34 deepens the teaching of non-duality. In Advaita Vedānta philosophy, this verse of the Aṣṭāvakra Gītā reveals that freedom is inherent to the Self and requires no acquisition.
