Chapter 18 · Verse 37
मूढो नाप्नोति तद् ब्रह्म यतो भवितुमिच्छति
mūḍho nāpnoti tad brahma yato bhavitumicchati | anicchannapi dhīro hi parabrahma
In chapter 18 (Janaka’s liberation), verse 37 deepens the teaching of non-duality. In Advaita Vedānta philosophy, this verse of the Aṣṭāvakra Gītā reveals that freedom is inherent to the Self and requires no acquisition.
