Chapter 19 · Verse 1

अष्टावक्र उवाच

aṣṭāvakra uvāca

Chapter 19, the final chapter, brings the teaching to rest in the natural fullness of the Self. Aṣṭāvakra opens by pointing out that if you are pure knowledge, pure and unlimited like space, then the whole structure of seeking collapses. There is nothing to know, nothing to renounce, nothing to accept, and nothing to reject. This opening statement sets the tone for the chapter: liberation is not a grand finale but the simple, ever-present fact of what one already is.
