Prathamopadeśaḥ (Ṣaṭkarma) · Verse 15
उद्गारं तु यथा कुर्याद्वायुना पूरितोदरः | तथा हृदयसंशुद्धिर्जायते नात्र संशयः ||
udgāraṃ tu yathā kuryādvāyunā pūritodaraḥ | tathā hṛdayasaṃśuddhirjāyate nātra saṃśayaḥ ||
The specific technique: fill the abdomen with air (vāyunā pūritodaraḥ) and produce controlled belches (udgāra). This creates an internal massage of the cardiac/esophageal region, releasing tension and purifying the area.
The phrase “there is no doubt” (na atra saṃśayaḥ) is a seal of textual authority. The author is not speculating; he is transmitting knowledge proven in the tradition.
Although the technique may seem strange, controlled belching is recognized in several traditions as a mechanism for releasing gas and diaphragmatic tension.
