Prathamopadeśaḥ (Ṣaṭkarma) · Verse 21
ततो वारिणि सङ्क्षिप्ते वस्त्यभ्यासात्प्रवर्तते | अन्तः पीत्वा तु तन्मूत्रं पुनः सङ्क्षिप्य पाययेत् ||
tato vāriṇi saṅkṣipye vastyabhyāsātpravartate | antaḥ pītvā tu tanmūtraṃ punaḥ saṅkṣipya pāyayet ||
The process continues: abdominal contraction creates suction that introduces water into the colon. Then, through further contractions, the contents are expelled.
The word mūtra (urine) here appears to be a textual error or confusion; it should be vāri (water). Commentators have noted this discrepancy.
The practice cleanses the descending and sigmoid colon, eliminating accumulated waste. Benefits include relief from constipation, flatulence, and vāta imbalances.
