Prathamopadeśaḥ (Ṣaṭkarma) · Verse 28

मुखान्निर्गमयेत्तद्वद्बहिरन्तश्च नोदयेत् | ततः शिरःप्रशुद्धिः स्यान्नेत्रज्योतिर्विवर्धनम् ||

mukhānnirgamayettadvadbahirantaśca nodayet | tataḥ śiraḥpraśuddhiḥ syānnetrajyotirvivardhanam ||

The advanced technique of sūtra neti: the thread enters through one nostril and exits through the mouth. The movement “outward and inward” (bahir-antaḥ) cleanses the entire nasal passage.

The benefits extend beyond respiration: purification of the head (śiraḥ-praśuddhi) and improvement of vision (netra-jyotir-vivardhanam). Clean paranasal sinuses reduce congestion that affects the eyes and mental clarity.
