Mayūrāsana — the peacock posture. The peacock is Śiva’s bird, symbol of beauty, dignity, and resurrection. This posture requires and develops strength, balance, and grace.
“Destroyer of great sins” (mahāpātaka-nāśanam). Like Dhanurāsana, this posture has the power to dissolve heavy karma. The inversion and balance on the arms create a profound transformation.
It is one of the most challenging postures in classical haṭha yoga. Those who master it have overcome the fear of falling and developed exceptional core strength.
