Pañcamopadeśaḥ (Prāṇāyāma) · Verse 4

पुनः पूरयेद्वामेन रेचयेद्दक्षिणामुखात् | एवमभ्यस्यमानेन नाडीशुद्धिर्भवेन्नृणाम् ||

punaḥ pūrayed vāmena recayed dakṣiṇāmukhāt | evam abhyasyamānena nāḍīśuddhir bhaved nṛṇām ||

Continuation of the technique: inhaling through the left, exhaling through the right. This is the first form of nāḍīśodhana — purification of the energy channels.

The left inhalation/right exhalation pattern activates and balances energy flows. It is the basis of all advanced prāṇāyāma.

Purification of the nāḍīs is the immediate objective. When the channels are clean, prāṇa flows freely and meditative states arise naturally.
