Navama-prakaraṇam (Samādhi) · Verse 10
दश वायव इत्युक्ता येषु सर्वं प्रतिष्ठितम् । तेषां संयमनं कृत्वा योगी मोक्षं लभेत् सदा ॥
daśa vāyava ityuktā yeṣu sarvaṃ pratiṣṭhitam | teṣāṃ saṃyamanaṃ kṛtvā yogī mokṣaṃ labhet sadā ||
The ninth verse establishes a crucial principle within the Yājñavalkya system: the existence of dasha-vayu – ten prāṇas – which permeate and sustain all of existence. This expansive view highlights the interconnectedness of all phenomena, mirroring the broader metaphysical concepts found in the Upaniṣads concerning Brahman. The key to liberation, according to this verse, lies in the skillful control (samyamana) of these prāṇas. Through focused attention and disciplined practice, the yogī can harmonize these energies, calming the fluctuations of the mind and ultimately attaining moksha, or release from the cycle of birth and death. This emphasizes that yoga is not simply a set of postures, but a dynamic process of energy management.
