अन्तर
Antara
conceptoInterior, internal, within. In pranayama, antara refers to the internal phase — retention after inhalation (antara kumbhaka). Also means “between” or “middle,” indicating the intermediate space between two states.
In Haṭha Yoga, antara kumbhaka is the suspension of breath with lungs full, distinguished from bahya kumbhaka (empty retention). Both are fundamental practices for calming the mind and directing prana.
