Īśvara

The Lord, special consciousness. In YS 1.23-29, Īśvara is defined as a puruṣa-viśeṣa: a singular consciousness, eternally free from kleśas, karma and vipāka. It is not a personal creator god nor the God of classical theism, but an archetype of liberation already realized. The practice of īśvara-praṇidhānā (surrender to the Lord) is one of the means to attain samādhi. See purusa and klesha.
