निर्वाण
Nirvāṇa
conceptoExtinction, cessation. In the Bhagavad Gītā (5.24-26), nirvāṇa designates the supreme peace attained by one who has dissolved desires and aversions. It is the Sanskrit equivalent of the Pāli nibbana; in Hinduism, however, it does not carry the strict Buddhist sense of extinction of the self, but rather the absolute stillness of the spirit when all fluctuations subside.
