Sadhaka

Spiritual practitioner, one who performs sadhana. It is someone who commits seriously to a discipline to achieve a spiritual goal.

The sadhaka is distinguished from the casual practitioner by constant dedication and clear intention. Traditional texts describe the qualities of the ideal sadhaka: faith, energy, memory, discernment, and concentration.

In the context of Haṭha Yoga, the sadhaka is one who practices regularly under a teacher’s guidance, with understanding of the discipline’s deeper objectives.
