Prathamopadeśaḥ (Ṣaṭkarma) · Verse 24

गुल्मप्लीहादिकान् रोगान्प्रशमं याति साधकः | जठराग्निर्विवर्धेत काये च परमं सुखम् ||

gulmaplīhādikān rogānpraśamaṃ yāti sādhakaḥ | jaṭharāgnirvivardheta kāye ca paramaṃ sukham ||

Gulma (abdominal masses/tumors) and plīhā (splenic conditions) are serious pathologies that basti helps prevent or alleviate. The emphasis on jaṭharāgni (abdominal fire) reinforces the Ayurvedic connection.

The “practitioner” (sādhaka) is one who performs sādhanā — disciplined practice. Not merely a patient but an active participant in their own transformation.

“Supreme well-being” (paramaṃ sukham) includes physical comfort but points beyond, toward the state of ease that enables deep meditation.
