Sūryabhedana

Piercing of the sun. Prāṇāyāma in which inhalation is performed exclusively through the right nostril (sūrya nāḍī, piṅgalā) and exhalation through the left. The Haṭha Pradīpikā (2.44-48) states that it destroys vāta doṣa, purifies the skull, and awakens solar energy. Its regular practice increases bodily heat and counteracts cold imbalances.
