Sūryabhedana — solar penetration. Inhaling through the right nostril (solar channel, piṅgalā) and exhaling through the left (lunar channel, iḍā).

“Destroyer of great sins” — it has deep purifying power. It activates solar energy, the principle of activity and heat.

It is a warming, activating prāṇāyāma. It is practiced in the morning or when energy is needed. It should not be done before sleep or in very hot climates.
