Chapter 18 · Verse 99

न प्रीयते वन्द्यमानो निन्द्यमानो न कुप्यति

na prīyate vandyamāno nindyamāno na kupyati | naivodvijati maraṇe jīvane nābhina

In chapter 18 (Janaka’s liberation), verse 99 deepens the teaching of non-duality. In Advaita Vedānta philosophy, this verse of the Aṣṭāvakra Gītā reveals that freedom is inherent to the Self and requires no acquisition.
