Arjuna Viṣāda Yoga · Verse 7
"अस्माकं तु विशिष्टा ये तान्निबोध द्विजोत्तम | नायकाः मम सैन्यस्य संज्ञार्थं तान्ब्रवीमि ते"
"asmākaṃ tu viśiṣṭā ye tān nibodha dvijottama | nāyakāḥ mama sainyasya saṃjñārthaṃ tān bravīmi te"
But those of us who are distinguished, of them take notice, oh best of the brāhmaṇas. The leaders of my army, for your information, I describe them to you
Duryodhana proceeds to present his own commanders. Dvijottama (best of the twice-born) is flattery toward Droṇa, his teacher.
Viśiṣṭāḥ (distinguished, superior) — Duryodhana wants Droṇa to know that he too has heroes. The competition is implicit.
nāyakāḥ mama sainyasya — “leaders of my army.” The possessive mama (mine) contrasts with asmākam (our) — even when speaking of his allies, Duryodhana sees himself as the center.
