तेषामेवानुकम्पार्थमहमज्ञानजं तमः | नाशयाम्यात्मभावस्थो ज्ञानदीपेन भास्वता

teṣām evānukampārtham aham ajñāna-jaṃ tamaḥ | nāśayāmy ātma-bhāva-stho jñāna-dīpena bhāsvatā

Out of compassion for them, established in their being, I destroy with the luminous lamp of knowledge the darkness born of ignorance.

The Lord in the heart of the devotee. Anukampārtham — out of compassion — the divine motive. Ajñāna-jaṃ tamaḥ — darkness born of ignorance — the avidyā that covers the ātman.

Ātma-bhāva-sthaḥ — established in their being — the Lord as paramātman in the heart of every being. Jñāna-dīpena bhāsvatā — with the bright lamp of knowledge — inner revelation.

The Lord does not merely grant knowledge; He destroys the ignorance that obstructs it. It is an active process of illumination.
