Jñāna Yoga · Verse 34
तद्विद्धि प्रणिपातेन परिप्रश्नेन सेवया | उपदेक्ष्यन्ति ते ज्ञानं ज्ञानिनस्तत्त्वदर्शिनः
tad viddhi praṇipātena paripraśnena sevayā | upadekṣyanti te jñānaṃ jñāninas tattva-darśinaḥ
Know that through submission, inquiry, and service. The wise who see the truth will teach you that knowledge.
Method of acquiring knowledge. Praṇipātena — through reverent submission, prostration — is the first step, indicating humility.
Paripraśnena — through inquiry, investigation — is the second step, indicating active participation. Sevayā — through service — is the third step, demonstrating commitment. The jñāninaḥ tattva-darśinaḥ — wise who see reality — teach those who thus approach. Without these three, knowledge is not transmitted.
