Immortality belongs to one whose thirst is exhausted, who has abandoned all suffering. I teach the Dhamma, blessed one, as one who sees the uneven.

Amataṁ — immortality, the deathless. It is not a state after death, it is the quality of what cannot die because it was never truly born.

Visamadassino — one who sees the uneven. Life without thirst appears uneven, strange, because ordinarily there is always desire directing perception.
