Pariyādāya taṇhāya, sabbaloke visesato; Kāme panudaṁ klese, akato na ca kappati.
Pariyādāya taṇhāya, sabbaloke visesato; kāme panudaṁ klese, akato na ca kappati.
Having completely understood thirst, in all the world, without distinction; having rejected pleasures, purified of stains, without doing nor thinking of doing.
Na ca kappati — not fitting, not appropriate. One who has understood thirst no longer “does” in the sense of generating karma. Action continues, but without the stain of egoic intention.
Kilesa — stains, mental impurities. They are the three poisons: greed, hatred, ignorance. Rejecting pleasures is not repression, it is seeing clearly their cost.
