Pahāsi kāme manujindassa, sampagamma dhammaṁ vicakkhu; sabbā save ca jhāyī, bhikkhu munī ca pāsādano.
Having abandoned pleasures, the disciple of the Lord of men, having fully understood the Dhamma with clear vision; meditating on all impurities, the wise monk is gracious.
Cakkhu — eye, vision. Vicakkhu — of clear vision, penetrating. The Dhamma is not known with the eyes of the face, it is seen with the eye of wisdom.
Jhāyī — meditator. Jhāna is meditative absorption. The monk meditates not to escape, but to see impurities (āsava) clearly.
