Bhikkhuvagga · The Monk · Gāthā 382

Bhikkhuno sammā dhammaṃ, passato pavitassa ca; Sārādhimutto ca bhikkhu, sabbadukkhā pamuccati.

Bhikkhuno sammā dhammaṃ, passato pavitassa ca; sārādhimutto ca bhikkhu, sabbadukkhā pamuccati.

For the monk who sees the Dhamma correctly, who is purified; liberated in essence, the monk is freed from all suffering.

Sārādhimutto — liberated in essence (sāra). Not in phenomena, but in what is essential. Essence is the understanding that nothing has own-essence.

The Bhikkhuvagga closes thus: the monk’s practice is to breathe consciously, see the Dhamma, purify, and liberate. Simple but profound.
