कुक्कुटासनमाख्यातं महापातकनाशनम् | तत्प्रकारं प्रवक्ष्यामि शृणु त्वं कमलानने ||
kukkuṭāsanam ākhyātaṃ mahāpātakanāśanam | tatprakāraṃ pravakṣyāmi śṛṇu tvaṃ kamalānane ||
Kukkuṭāsana — the cockerel posture. The cockerel is a symbol of wakefulness, of announcing the dawn, of courage in combat. This posture requires agility and arm strength.
“Destroyer of great sins.” Like the peacock, the cockerel has the power to transform heavy karma into elevated energy. The posture purifies at a profound level.
It is executed from the lotus, inserting the hands between thighs and calves, and lifting the body from the ground. It is Mayūrāsana with crossed legs.
