Ṣaṣṭhopadeśaḥ (Dhyāna) · Verse 7

ज्योतिर्मयं ततो वक्ष्ये ध्यानमष्टाङ्गसंयुतम् | ब्रह्मरन्ध्रं समासाद्य ध्यायेद्दीपवदाकृतिम् ||

jyotirmayaṃ tato vakṣye dhyānam aṣṭāṅgasaṃyutam | brahmarandhraṃ samāsādya dhyāyed dīpavad ākṛtim ||

Jyotir dhyāna — luminous meditation. The object is light at the brahmarandhra (crown), as a brilliant flame.

“Endowed with eight aṅgas” — complete meditation includes eight components: posture, seals, retention, etc. It is integrated practice, not only visualization.

Light is the subtlest element of creation. Meditating upon it leads directly to the luminous essence of being.
