Tṛtīyopadeśaḥ (Mudrā) · Verse 9

गोपितं सर्व-सिद्धौघैर्मुद्रानां परमं महत् | वक्ष्येऽहं च प्रयत्नेन ह्यथ मुद्राभिधानतः

gopitaṃ sarva-siddhaughair mudrānāṃ paramaṃ mahat | vakṣye 'haṃ ca prayatnena hy atha mudrābhidhānataḥ

Guarded by all the hosts of siddhas, the supreme and great [knowledge] of mudrās — I shall now explain it with care, naming the mudrās.

This verse marks the transition toward the practical teaching of mudrās. Gopitam — guarded, protected — indicates that this knowledge was traditionally kept secret, transmitted only from master to qualified disciple.

Sarva-siddhaughaiḥ — by all the hosts of siddhas. The siddhas are realized masters who have attained yogic powers and liberation. They have guarded these teachings for generations.

Prayatnena — with care — suggests both the author’s diligence in revealing these practices and the effort required of the practitioner to master them. From here onward, the text will detail each mudrā with its specific techniques.
