Asakta
conceptoUnattached, unattached — one who is free from binding connections. The opposite of [[sakta]] (attached), it describes the yogic ideal of engagement without clinging.
The [[Bhagavad Gītā]] repeatedly praises the asakta — one who acts in the world without being bound by results. Like a lotus leaf in water: in contact but untouched, present but not stained.
This is not cold detachment but the natural freedom of one who sees clearly. When the illusion of a separate self dissolves, the compulsion to grasp falls away of its own accord.
