Karma Yoga · Verse 20
तस्मादसक्तः सततं कार्यं कर्म समाचर | असक्तो ह्याचरन्कर्म परमाप्नोति पूरुषः
tasmād asaktaḥ satataṃ kāryaṃ karma samācara | asakto hy ācaran karma param āpnoti pūruṣaḥ
Therefore, always act without attachment the duty that must be performed, for the man who acts without attachment attains the Supreme.
Practical synthesis of Karma Yoga. Asaktaḥ — without attachment — is the key that transforms ordinary action into yoga.
Satataṃ — constantly — eliminates the excuse of “only when it suits me.” The pūruṣa — human being — who thus acts attains param — the Supreme, liberation. This is the promise: you need not renounce the world, only your attachment to it.
