यस्त्वात्मरतिरेव स्यादात्मतृप्तश्च मानवः | आत्मन्येव च सन्तुष्टस्तस्य कार्यं न विद्यते
yas tv ātma-ratir eva syād ātma-tṛptaś ca mānavaḥ | ātmani eva ca santuṣṭas tasya kāryaṃ na vidyate
But that human being who delights in the Self, who is satisfied in the Self, who is content only with the Self, for him there is no duty to perform.
Exception to universal duty: the ātma-rati — one who finds bliss in the ātman — transcends ritual obligation.
Ātma-tṛpta — satisfied in the Self — indicates inner fullness that requires nothing external. Santuṣṭa — content — completes the triad of spiritual self-sufficiency. This is not license for inaction, but recognition that the action of the liberated, if it occurs, flows from fullness rather than obligation.
