Mokṣa-Sannyāsa Yoga · Verse 5
यज्ञदानतपःकर्म न त्याज्यं कार्यमेव तत् | यज्ञो दानं तपश्चैव पावनानि मनीषिणाम्
yajña-dāna-tapaḥ-karma na tyājyaṃ kāryam eva tat | yajño dānaṃ tapaś caiva pāvanāni manīṣiṇām
The action of sacrifice, charity and austerity should not be abandoned; it should be performed. Sacrifice, charity and austerity are purifiers of the wise.
Verdict: these three actions are na tyājyam — should not be abandoned. They are kāryam eva — duties, not options.
They are pāvanāni — purifiers, that clean karmic impurities. For manīṣiṇām — the sages, those who seek knowledge. These actions do not bind; they liberate when performed with the correct attitude.
