Jñāna Yoga · Verse 25
दैवमेवापरे यज्ञं योगिनः पर्युपासते | ब्रह्माग्नावपरे यज्ञं यज्ञेनैवोपजुह्वति
daivam evāpare yajñaṃ yoginaḥ paryupāsate | brahmāgnāv apare yajñaṃ yajñenaivopajuhvati
Some yogīs sacrifice to the gods, others offer sacrifice in the fire of Brahman.
Types of sacrifice. Daivam — to the gods (devatā) — is conventional Vedic sacrifice, dualistic.
Brahmāgni — fire of Brahman — is Vedāntic sacrifice, non-dual. Paryupāsate — they worship — indicates active devotion. Upajuhvati — they offer — describes ritual transformed into yoga. There are multiple paths (yogas) according to temperament, but all converge when performed with knowledge.
