Kevala Kumbhaka
Spontaneous breath retention. Unlike sahita kumbhaka (deliberate retention), kevala kumbhaka occurs naturally as a result of progress in pranayama and meditation.
In this state, breathing suspends without effort or discomfort. Traditional texts describe it as a sign of significant advancement: when prana and apana balance perfectly, breath ceases on its own.
It is considered an elevated state that prepares the practitioner for deep meditative experiences.
