Praṇava

The sonic designator of Īśvara, synonymous with om. In YS 1.27-29, Patañjali establishes that contemplation of the praṇava reveals the nature of the Lord and dissolves obstacles, leading to samādhi. The Upaniṣads describe it as the bow with the soul as the arrow whose target is Brahman.
