प्रणवो धनुः शरो ह्यात्मा ब्रह्म तल्लक्ष्यमुच्यते । अप्रमत्तेन वेद्धव्यं शरवत्तन्मयो भवेत्
praṇavo dhanuḥ śaro hy ātmā brahma tal lakṣyam ucyate | apramattena veddhavyaṃ śaravat tan mayo bhavet
The Praṇava (Om) is the bow, the Self is the arrow, Brahman is the target. It must be pierced by the attentive; one must become one with That, as the arrow with the target.
The bow metaphor: meditation as precise shot toward Brahman.
Praṇavaḥ dhanuḥ — Om is the bow. The mantra as instrument, the support of meditation.
Śaraḥ ātmā — the arrow is the Self. What is launched, what travels toward the goal.
Brahma tal lakṣyam — Brahman is the target. The goal, what must be reached.
Apramattena — by the attentive, the non-negligent. Full attention is essential.
Veddhavyam — must be pierced, penetrated. Direct knowledge, not superficial.
Śaravat — like the arrow. That penetrates completely, without remaining outside.
Tan mayo bhavet — one must become one with That. Total unification, dissolution of separation.
Yoga is this shot: the bow (Om), the arrow (Self), the target (Brahman) — everything converges in one.
