Vibhūti Yoga · Verse 2

न मे विदुः सुरगणा प्रभवं न महर्षयः | अहमादिर्हि देवानां महर्षीणां च सर्वशः

na me viduḥ sura-gaṇāḥ prabhavaṃ na maharṣayaḥ | aham ādir hi devānāṃ maharṣīṇāṃ ca sarvaśaḥ

Neither the hosts of demigods nor the great sages know My origin or potency, for I am the origin of the demigods and of all the great sages in all respects.

The absolute transcendence of the Lord. Na me viduḥ — they do not know Me — neither the sura-gaṇāḥ (groups of demigods) nor the maharṣayaḥ (great sages like Nārada, Vasiṣṭha).

Prabhavam — origin, birth, manifestation — is unknown even to the most evolved beings. Aham ādiḥ — I am the origin — of all that exists.

Sarvaśaḥ — in all respects — without exception. The devas are His children; the ṛṣis are His expansions of knowledge.
