Jñāna Yoga · Verse 41
योगसंन्यस्तकर्माणां ज्ञानाग्निदग्धकर्मणाम् | तमाहुः पण्डितं बुधाः
yoga-sannyasta-karmāṇāṃ jñānāgni-dagdha-karmaṇām | tam āhuḥ paṇḍitaṃ budhāḥ
Of those who have renounced their actions by yoga, whose actions are burned by the fire of knowledge, him the wise call wise.
Definition of the true sage. Yoga-sannyasta-karmāṇām — who have abandoned actions by yoga — indicates renunciation of intention, not necessarily of action.
Jñānāgni-dagdha-karmaṇām — whose actions are burned by fire of knowledge — indicates complete purification. The budhāḥ — wise — call paṇḍitam — wise, learned — one who has attained this integration of yoga and knowledge.
